Hyperactivity in Open-Field

  • Presentation

Psychotomimetic drugs, such as Phencyclidine (angel dust), produce schizophrenia-like symptoms in humans.
In laboratory animals, they induce locomotor hyperactivity which is a widely used method for the screening of antipsychotic drug candidates.

  • Compound testing

Antipsychotic drugs are usually tested in this model but other treatments could also be considered.
  • Endpoints
