Robust disease model for
Relapsing-Remitting Multiple sclerosis

  • Presentation

    Relapsing/Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RR-MS) is the most frequent form of Multiple Sclerosis. Neurofit offers a disease model for MS in the rat that mimics the remittance and disease relapse as in MS patients. Thus, this model is useful to evaluate the effect of compounds on the disease relapse.

  • Compound testing

    Anti-inflammatory drugs are usually tested in this model but other treatments could also be considered. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the feasibility of your study.
  • Endpoints

    Scoring

    Integration of the Area Under each Curve used as a measure of Disease load (disease severity)

    Highlights:

    Clear periods of remission and relapse

    R elapse phase as severe as in the first attack

    Robust assay to evaluate potential drug for the treatment of MS

    Provides dosing flexibility for the testing of different treatment strategies (e.g., preventive or curative treatment, treatment of relapse, etc...)
    Dexamethasone therapy initiated at the peak of the first attack (blue bar) reduces by 80% the severity of the disease relapse

    Dexamethasone therapy initiated at the first sign of second attack (red bar) reduces by 50% the severity of the disease relapse

    AUC = area under curve
